About Better Off Home Buyers
Hello, my name is Scott Dalinger and I am the owner of Better Off Home Buyers. I live in Tigard, OR and my wife, Alejandra, and I have been running our business since 2019. We have two small children, 2 and 4, and are doing our best to raise them while showing them the value of hard work. Ever since they’ve been babies we’ve been taking them to all of our projects!
When you work with us, first we’ll meet and have a conversation, then take a look at the house, and finally run some numbers and see if we can reach an agreement. If we’re not a fit, we’ll give you some other options. And if we do buy your house, my wife Alejandra takes over the renovation process and manages the contractors. She’s much better at that than I am – and she makes the houses look beautiful!
I have to admit, I actually don’t care about houses all that much. My background is in business and sales, not real estate, so what I’m really good at is finding win-win situations where others can’t. If all a person wants is a quick cash sale, we can do that. But we go the extra mile to serve our sellers. Sometimes that means letting them stay in the property for extra time so they can deal with their stuff, sometimes that means buying it with an unruly tenant, or sometimes we’ll do creative deal structuring to actually get them more money for their house than anybody else can.
We aren’t one of those companies that is just going to low-ball you to try to get your house for a really low price, and then try to find another buyer. We use real money and will actually be the people buying it.
Why would someone sell to us instead of using a realtor? Well, sometimes they don’t want to pay those hefty realtor fees, sometimes their house needs a lot of repairs, and sometimes there are a lot of things in the house which makes it difficult to sell a house the normal way. Whatever the reason, we serve as an off-market alternative to using a realtor, while paying sellers the absolute highest price that we possibly can.
One thing I want people to realize, is that when you sell to us, you are supporting a local business that is based in the area. We have a lot of contractors that depend on us for work, so we do our best to offer sellers fair prices so we can keep our contractors and their families fed as well. My wife and I both speak Spanish, and one of our side missions is helping our contractors learn basic personal finance. Some have even gone on to start buying their own homes instead of working for us!
