Hi, I’m Scott Dalinger, owner of Better Off Home Buyers. My wife Alejandra and I live in Tigard, OR, and we’ve been running our business since 2019 while raising our two young kids. From the beginning, they’ve joined us on projects, learning the value of family and hard work.
We buy houses directly with our own funds, not as wholesalers, and pride ourselves on making the process simple, transparent, and fair for every homeowner we work with. Sellers choose us when they want to avoid realtor fees, skip costly repairs, or need a faster, off-market solution. Our mission is to offer the best possible price while supporting local contractors, strengthening our community, and treating every seller with honesty and respect.
MEET THE TEAM
Scott Dalinger
Scott Dalinger founded Better Off Home Buyers in 2019 when he noticed a need in the Portland market for homeowners to be able to sell troublesome homes without hassle. Scott is a graduate from the University of Oregon with a degree in business administration and entrepreneurship.
As his background is in business rather than real estate, Scott specializes in taking the hassle out of the selling process, crafting win-win deals that allow sellers to get a fair price, close on their timeline, and transition easily to their next place.
This skill also allows him to help landlords by taking on complicated deals, such as non-paying tenants and squatters, and properties with years of distress.
Scott lives with his wife and two kids, and they enjoy hiking, camping, fishing, and all that the beautiful Pacific Northwest has to offer.
Dylan Hallett
Dylan is a full‑time partner and the Sales Manager at Better Off Home Buyers, where he’s been a key part of the team since 2020. His passion for real estate began at Western Washington University, where he earned his degree in Business and Economics. Since then, Dylan has been involved in over 100 transactions, always focused on creating win‑win solutions for both buyers and sellers. He values building strong relationships and making the selling process as smooth and stress‑free as possible. Outside of work, you’ll often find him surfing the Oregon Coast or traveling with his family.
Alejandra
Alejandra was our first employee, and has been with Better Off Home Buyers in 2019. She started as our driver, identifying distressed properties to buy, as well as administrative assistant. She eventually worked her way up to project manager, where she now manages the house flipping and renovation projects from A-Z.
Fluent in English and Spanish, she is great at getting the best out of our diverse team of contractors, which results in them turning in their best efforts with great attention to detail on every job. She also selects all of the finishes and interior design on our projects.
When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with our kids and playdates with other moms.

What started in 2021 with 30 families has grown into something much larger. Since then, Oregon real estate investors and Gobble Gobble Give have provided over 200 meals, bringing Thanksgiving cheer to more than 800 people.
